Johnson's Aabenraa Beef  and  Scotts Head Quality Meats

Growing prime cattle on "Aabenraa"

A long tradition
The Johnson family have been producing prime cattle on the Taylors Arm watercourse since the 1860's. Their property "Aabenraa" is located in the beautiful, fertile Nambucca Valley on the Mid North Coast of NSW. The property is named after a small Danish village which was home to the original Johnson before he came to Australia.

Three generations later, Johnson's Aabenraa Prime Beef has become recognised as a supreme article for taste and tenderness. The Johnsons run their pampered beef herd in a very "hands on" manner which reflects their Danish heritage and careful way of nurturing their cattle.

Aabenraa calves are weaned at 6 to 8 months, then fattened on a special grain and hay diet. Ian Johnson supervises all cattle processing on the farm and he employs a cross-breeding programme using Simmental, Angus and Murray Grey cattle. His methods have proven to be a huge success

The Operation
The cattle are finished in prime condition after 90-100 days on grain and hay feeding. There is a strict quality control in the handling, feeding and processing of the stock. The cattle are processed at Frederickton Abattoirs and the beef is delivered to the Johnson's butchers shop at Scotts Head, a popular seaside resort, south of Macksville NSW. It is a three-way marketing operation.

Spelling Problems
The correct spelling is mentioned multiple times above. For technical reasons only we now record that Arbenrar, Arbenra, Arbenraa, Aabenra and Abenra are all INCORRECT ways to spell our brand and property name so please don't dwell on this paragraph.
